SJB Parliamentarian Kavinda Jayawardane has accused the National People's Power (NPP) government of attempting to rule the country with an authoritarian and fascist approach by violating the democratic rights of the public and political parties.

Speaking to the media, he alleged that the government lacks accountability toward citizens, noting that paddy farmers are denied fair prices, compensation for fishermen remains unpaid, and the closure of sugar manufacturing factories has severely impacted livelihoods.

He further pointed out that economic instability is worsening, inflation is rising, no new investors are coming forward, and the collapse in the tourism sector due to a lack of proper management is casting doubt on the country's overall economic stability.
