An Australian news outlet reported that a Sri Lankan-origin Australian family of four is among the many persons missing following devastating flash floods along the Nepal-Tibet border.

Chandrasekaran Muralitharan (47), his wife Shailaja Muralitharan (42), and their sons Ashwin (14) and Aarush (11) lost contact while trekking with a tour group operated by 'Himalayan Glacier Adventures.'

Originally from Kopay, Jaffna, Muralitharan and his wife are first-generation Sri Lankan Tamil immigrants residing in Sydney. The family was on a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash when flash floods struck the region on August 26. Relatives indicated that their last communication with the family occurred on the morning of the disaster. The trekking group is believed to have been near the Rasuwagadhi border area between Nepal and China when the flooding occurred.
