A 24-year-old Indian national went missing after being swept away by strong ocean currents while bathing off the Bentota beach on Thursday afternoon, police said.
Initial inquiries revealed that the victim was staying at a hotel in Bentota with a friend and had gone swimming in the sea behind the hotel premises when the incident occurred.
Police, in coordination with the Sri Lanka Navy, have launched a joint search and rescue operation to locate the missing tourist.
