His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, the Archbishop of Colombo, has filed an intervention petition in the Court of Appeal, requesting the court to dismiss the writ application filed by former Director of National Intelligence Suresh Sallay without a hearing.

Through this petition, Cardinal Ranjith seeks the court's permission to intervene and present arguments detailing why Sallay's writ petition should be dismissed.

Suresh Sallay had previously filed a writ petition challenging his arrest and detention under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA). That petition-which names the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the Senior DIG in charge of the CID, and Reverend Father Rohan Silva, among others, as respondents-is currently being considered by the Court of Appeal.
