The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has welcome the formation of a new political alliance by Tamil and Muslim minority parties, stating that the move poses no threat to the main opposition. SJB National Organizer Tissa Attanayake declared that these minor parties will ultimately align with the SJB to achieve the common objective of defeating the "anti-people" National People's Power (NPP) government.

Speaking to the press, Attanayake noted that there is nothing wrong with minority representatives like Mano Ganesan and Rauff Hakeem organizing themselves to champion the rights of their communities. He observed that it is politically healthy for diverse groups to form independent blocks before uniting on a larger, single platform.

He expressed strong confidence that these factions would continue to cooperate with the Samagi Jana Balawegaya Coalition rather than aligning with the current administration in future national elections. Attanayake also launched a scathing attack on the country's current national security status, questioning the silence of the Minister of State for Defence who had previously challenged critics to debate him.

He pointed out the rising frequency of shooting incidents and noted that with prison systems dominated by major drug traffickers, the government's claims of maintaining peace are entirely hollow.

The National Organizer highlighted the recent Negombo prison riot as a primary example of administrative collapse. He noted that senior police officers admitted that prison authorities failed to contact the police for assistance until 24 hours after the violence began. Meanwhile, prison officials claimed they lacked clear directives or authority to act, with top administration reportedly waiting hours just to contact the Justice Minister.

Attanayake concluded by challenging President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to prove his popularity by immediately holding the Provincial Council elections-which have been unconstitutionally delayed for nine years rather than ruling through appointed governors and officials.
