 The representatives of the  tamil pothu  katamaipu   met with the Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa on Tuesday (13) after meeting with President Ranil Wickremesinghe in the context of the TNA fielding a common candidate. 

Sajith Premadasa, who is contesting the upcoming presidential election had separately invited representatives of political parties and public organizations to meet  him

It was on this basis that the above mentioned tamil  political   leaders decided to participate in the meeting to clarify their position on the issue of the Tamil people and to learn about the steps taken by Sajith Premadasa to address the political aspirations of the Tamil people.

  sajith  premadasa  said that so far he has not been given the opportunity to serve as President or Prime Minister of the country and if he is given this opportunity, he will definitely solve the problems of the Tamil people. Therefore, keeping in mind the bitter events of the past, he requested not to compare himself with those candidates or those who got positions.

 "" "All the people of this country have the right to contest as the presidential candidate and I respect that," "he said." He, however, said that putting up candidates with ethnic, linguistic, religious and regional identities in a national election can disturb the unity.

 According to him, he is ready to fully implement the provincial council structure brought through the Thirteenth Amendment Act in the first phase. That is why he is speaking openly and not making excuses out of fear of anyone. He said that he is firm on this issue and if he wins the presidency, he will immediately implement the division of powers of the provincial council in full.
He also promised to set up special task forces for such problems faced by the Tamil people and provide solutions to the problems under his direct supervision.
