President Ranil Wickremesinghe has said that if a strong parliament is formed in favour of a federal political solution, it will be possible to consider it and reach progressive decisions in the future.

The three parties that are part of the  tamil pothu katamaipu  - met President Ranil Wickremesinghe at his invitation.

At the meeting, it was made clear that the decision to nominate a Tamil candidate was mainly due to the continuing lack of a political solution to the political aspirations of the Tamil people. 

On behalf of the President, it was stated that a federal political solution can be considered if a strong parliament is formed and progressive decisions can be reached in the future.

The President said that he is committed to fully implement the provincial council structure brought through the 13th Amendment Act.

He also submitted a document containing his ideas for the purpose.
